Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A. M. M. Nasir Uddin has affirmed that the Election Commission (EC) is advancing preparations for the upcoming national parliamentary election, pledging to act as a neutral referee throughout the process. The commission is committed to ensuring a level playing field for all participants.
Speaking at a post-Eid meeting with officials at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon on Sunday morning, the CEC emphasized impartiality and urged all officials to perform their duties without bias. Present at the meeting were four election commissioners, the EC secretary, and other officials.
“We have already made significant progress and must collectively complete the remaining tasks. Today’s Eid-ul-Adha meeting reaffirms our oath to deliver free, fair, and credible elections to the nation,” said Nasir Uddin.
Highlighting international confidence in Bangladesh’s electoral process, he noted that global leaders, including those from London and Japan, anticipate a historic election and have expressed trust in the EC’s capability.
Addressing the officials, the CEC reiterated the commitment made during Ramadan to conduct their work professionally and impartially. “Our pledge today is to work fairly, avoid favoritism towards any party, uphold the law, and act justly,” he said, acknowledging past criticisms but affirming the current commission’s dedication to integrity.
“We will act as refereesensuring fair play, letting candidates compete freely, and creating an equal opportunity for all. This remains our firm commitment,” Nasir Uddin concluded.
