The Election Commission (EC) has transferred 61 senior officials at both the Secretariat and field levels ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. The transfers were confirmed through three separate office orders signed by EC Assistant Secretary Mohammad Shahidur Rahman on Thursday (September 11). Of them, 49 officials have been transferred or promoted, while 12 officials have been reassigned as Regional Election Officers and Deputy Secretaries. According to the orders, the transferred officials must be released from their current posts by September 18, failing which they will be considered automatically relieved on that date. EC officials said more reshuffles are likely before the elections, particularly involving those who oversaw the 2024 parliamentary polls.

ত্রয়োদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে সামনে রেখে নির্বাচন কমিশন (ইসি) সচিবালয় ও মাঠ পর্যায়ের মোট ৬১ জন ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তাকে একযোগে বদলি করেছে নির্বাচন কমিশন। বৃহস্পতিবার (১১ সেপ্টেম্বর) ইসির সহকারী সচিব মোহাম্মদ শহীদুর রহমানের স্বাক্ষরিত তিনটি পৃথক অফিস আদেশ থেকে এ তথ্য জানা গেছে। আদেশে বলা হয়েছে, ইসি সচিবালয় ও মাঠ পর্যায়ের ৪৯ জন কর্মকর্তাকে পরবর্তী নির্দেশ না দেওয়া পর্যন্ত বদলি/পদায়ন করা হলো। এছাড়া ভিন্ন দুটি আদেশে আঞ্চলিক নির্বাচন কর্মকর্তা ও উপসচিব পদে ১২ জনকে বদলি করা হয়েছে। অফিস আদেশগুলোতে আরও উল্লেখ করা হয়েছে, বদলিকৃত কর্মকর্তাদেরকে আগামী ১৮ সেপ্টেম্বরের মধ্যে বর্তমান কর্মস্থল থেকে অবমুক্ত হতে হবে। অন্যথায় আগামী ১৮ সেপ্টেম্বর তাৎক্ষণিকভাবে অবমুক্ত হয়েছেন বলে গণ্য করা হবে। ইসি কর্মকর্তারা জানিয়েছেন, নির্বাচনের আগে আরও বদলি হবে। বিশেষ করে ২০২৪ সালের সংসদ নির্বাচনে দায়িত্ব পালনকারী কর্মকর্তাদের বদলি করা হবে।
