EC yet to receive voting data from 6,620 centers
The Election Commission (EC) has said that voting data from 6,620 polling centers across the country is still pending.
Akhtar Ahmed, senior secretary of the EC Secretariat, told reporters that as of 2:30pm, data from 36,031 out of the 42,651 centers had been received, showing a voter turnout of 47.91 percent.
Responding to queries about demands to halt voting at over a hundred centers in three constituencies, he said the EC is examining complaints. “We cannot comment prematurely without verification, as it may create confusion. Once verified, the returning officers will take appropriate action,” he added.
Commenting on the overall election environment, Akhtar Ahmed said there had been no major issues so far. Sharing his observations from visiting two polling centers, he noted that voter turnout was relatively low until noon but increased as the day progressed.
When asked about projected turnout, he said, “We expect that the final percentage will reflect the total number of votes cast by the end of polling.”
