Ecnec approves 10 projects worth Tk6,506 crore
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved 10 development projects worth Tk 6,506.50 crore at a meeting held on Sunday.
Of the total cost, Tk 3,821.58 crore will come from government funds, Tk 2,428.04 crore from project loans, and Tk 256.89 crore from the implementing agencies’ own resources.
The meeting took place at the NEC conference room in the Planning Commission premises and was chaired by Chief Adviser and ECNEC Chairperson Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The approved projects include five new ones, two revised, and three with time extensions without any additional costs.
Several advisers and high-ranking officials attended the meeting, including Planning Adviser Dr. Wahiduddin Mahmud, Law and Expatriates’ Welfare Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, Home and Agriculture Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and others.
List of Approved Projects; Agriculture Ministry: Sustainable Agriculture Development in Rangpur through Modern Technology Expansion. Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry: Modernization and Capacity Enhancement of 33/11 kV Outdoor Substations under BPDB. Industries Ministry: BMRE of Carew & Co. (BD) Ltd. (2nd Revised). Education Ministry: Establishment of Rabindra University Bangladesh. Health Ministry: Establishment of Burn and Plastic Surgery Units at Five Medical College Hospitals (1st Revised). Housing Ministry: Construction of Multi-storey Residential Flats for Government Staff at Azimpur Government Colony, Dhaka. Home Ministry: Construction of Two Multi-storey Residential Buildings for Fire Service and Civil Defence Officials. Local Government Ministry: Dhaka Environmentally Sustainable Water Supply Project (3rd Revised). Local Government Ministry: Expansion of Safe Water Supply and Sanitation in Bandarban Municipality and Surrounding Areas (1st Revised). Posts and Telecommunications Ministry: Establishment of Telecommunication Network in Mirsarai Economic Zone, Chattogram.
During the session, the Planning Adviser also briefed ECNEC members on nine previously approved projects.
