Ecnec approves 22 projects worth Tk 46,419 crore

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council, Ecnec, has approved 22 development projects with a total cost of Tk 46,419.66 crore. The approval was given at a meeting held on Tuesday, December 23, at the NEC Conference Room of the Planning Commission, chaired by Chief Adviser and Ecnec President Professor Muhammad Yunus.

The approved projects include the upgrading of the Dhaka–Sylhet–Tamabil highway to four lanes and the construction of a connecting road from the Karnaphuli Tunnel to Gachhbari on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar national highway. Of the 22 projects, 14 are new, five are revised and three involve extensions of project duration.

Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud and advisers from various ministries were present at the meeting, along with senior government officials.

Of the total project cost, Tk 30,482.49 crore will come from government funds, Tk 1,669.61 crore from project loans and Tk 14,247.56 crore from the implementing agencies’ own financing.
