The Ministry of Education has directed the reinstatement of salaries and allowances for principals, head teachers, and other educators who were forcibly made to resign from private institutions following last year’s mass uprising.

The directive, issued Tuesday (October 7) under the signature of Syed A.Z. Morshed Ali, Deputy Secretary (additional charge) of the Secondary and Higher Education Division, stated that many teachers and staff had been compelled to resign without any completed investigations against them.

As a result, several of them have been living in dire financial hardship due to the suspension of their pay and benefits.

The ministry, therefore, instructed that their salaries and allowances be resumed immediately until the allegations are resolved.

Institutions have also been ordered to include the affected individuals in the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system to ensure regular disbursement.

The letter warned that any official obstructing the reinstatement process would face disciplinary action as per government regulations.

Copies of the directive were sent to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE), divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and district education officers for immediate implementation.

Following the change of government on August 5 last year, numerous private educators were reportedly forced to resign, resulting in the suspension of their pay. Many later appealed to the ministry, citing severe financial distress.
