Efforts underway to bring back 2 Hadi murder accused from India: Home Minister
Initiatives are being taken to bring back to the country the two accused arrested in India in the murder case of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said.
At the same time, cautioning against the tendency to view recent incidents as 'mob justice', he said not every incident should be termed mob justice; in many cases, these are isolated crimes.
He made these remarks while speaking to journalists after a meeting of the District Law and Order Committee at the Cox's Bazar Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday afternoon, March 9.
Regarding the arrest of the two accused in the Hadi murder case in India, the home minister said steps have already been taken to bring them back to the country. The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We are making efforts to bring them back under the extradition treaty between the two countries.
In response to a question about publishing a list of drug traffickers, the minister said that often such lists become politically influenced or risk being distorted in various ways. So we will prepare this list professionally, and action will be taken according to law.
The home minister also informed that important decisions have been made regarding restoring order at Cox's Bazar beach.
He said, Cox's Bazar is the pride of our country. It must be developed into a national and international standard tourist destination. All illegal structures on the beach will be removed within a week under the leadership of the district administration.
Informing that anti-terrorism operations have been intensified across the country, the home minister said armed terrorists, extortionists or any criminals will not be allowed to remain outside the law. Everyone will be brought under the rule of law.
Member of Parliament from Cox's Bazar-2 constituency Almgir Mohammad Mahfuz Ullah Farid, Cox's Bazar-3 MP Lutfur Rahman Kazal, Cox's Bazar-4 MP Shahjahan Chowdhury, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan, Superintendent of Police A N M Sazedur Rahman, along with senior officials from various forces and administration, were present at the meeting.
