Eid being celebrated at some places in Chandpur
Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest Muslim religious festival, is being celebrated in 20 villages including Sadra Darbar Sharif in Hajiganj of Chandpur and about 50 villages in other upazilas. The followers of Sadra Darbar and Mirzakhil Darbar Sharif of Chattogram are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today (April 10).
The Eid Jamaat was held at 10:30am at Sadra Hamidiya Fazil Madrasa ground. Earlier at 9:30 am, Eid Jamaat was held at Sadra Darbar Sharif Ground and Sameshpur Central Eidgah Ground.
The followers of Sadra Darbar Sharif of Hajiganj celebrate fasting and Eid based on the information of moon sighting anywhere in the world. In that light, they are celebrating the holy Eid-ul-Fitr today in harmony with different countries of the world.
Regarding this matter, Baqibillah Mishkat Chowdhury, son of the current Pir of the historic Sadra Darbar Sharif, stated, "Here, fasting and Eid are observed following the principle of 'one world, one moon,' rather than adhering to Saudi Arabia. Upon confirmation of moon sighting in any country worldwide, we observe fasting and Eid."
