Eid celebrated nationwide with religious solemnity
The Muslim Ummah celebrated the holy Eid-ul-Fitr with religious fervor across the country. Devotees offered Eid prayers at various Eidgahs and mosques across the country and prayed for peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, nation and Muslim Ummah on Saturday morning (March 21). Even though it was raining in some areas, devotees ignored it and offered prayers.
In Chittagong, the main Eid congregation was held at 8am at the Jamiatul Falah National Mosque Maidan. 20-25 thousand devotees participated in it. After the prayers, special prayers were offered for the welfare of the country, nation and Muslim Ummah. Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khusru Mahmud Chowdhury said that the people of the country are celebrating Eid in a free and democratic environment, where the right to express opinions and speak will be maintained.
The main congregation was held at 8am at the Anjuman Eidgah ground in Mymensingh. Lakhs of devotees participated in a festive atmosphere at the historic Shahi Eidgah Maidan in Sylhet. Commerce, Industry, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that the government is working to fulfill the expectations of the people and will make every effort to achieve the country's development goals. He also said that the government has taken the responsibility of keeping the prices of goods affordable for the people of the country despite global pressure.
The main congregation was held at the Comilla Central Eidgah ground in the presence of devotees from all walks of life. Due to rain in Rajshahi, the Eid congregation was held at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Makhdum at 8am instead of the Central Eidgah. Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed offered Eid prayers with local devotees and party leaders and activists at the Pekua Upazila Central Jame Mosque in Cox's Bazar. He said that everyone should come forward unitedly for the peace, stability, prosperity and development of the country. Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, the whip of the National Assembly and a member of parliament from Natore, participated.
Jamaat was held in mosques due to rain in various districts including Faridpur, Patuakhali, Satkhira and Barguna. Devotees offered prayers using umbrellas and raincoats. The main Jamaat was held at Nomani Maidan in Magura with the participation of five thousand devotees. Similarly, Eid prayers were conducted peacefully in other districts of the country including Jessore, Natore and Rangamati.
