Eid congregation held in Sylhet
The holy Eid-ul-Fitr congregation was held in Sylhet with religious fervor and festivities. After a month of fasting, the joy of Eid spread across the city from Saturday morning (March 21).
A large number of devotees were seen in the main congregation at 8:30am at the city's traditional Shahi Eidgah Maidan. Thousands of people offered prayers together and prayed for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the country, nation and the Muslim Ummah worldwide.
The congregation was attended by two ministers of the Sylhet region, Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, and officials from various levels of government and private sector.
At the same time, an Eid congregation was held at the premises of Hazrat Shahjalal (RAH) Shrine Mosque, where Maulana Asjad Ahmed led the prayer. Eid congregation was also held at 8am in the premises of Hazrat Shah Paran (RAH) Mazar Mosque.
Eid congregation was held at 8am at the initiative of Anjuman-e-Khedamate Quran at Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa ground. Separate pandals were arranged for women and children there.
Several congregations were held at the city's Qudrat Ullah Jame Mosque at 7:30am, 8:30am and 9:30am. In addition, several congregations were held at the Collectorate Jame Mosque, Jamia Madinatul Uloom Khasdbir Madrasa and Silam Shahi Eidgah Maidan in South Surma at the scheduled time.
Apart from this, Eid congregations were also held in various areas of the city including Kazirbazar Makhon Jame Mosque, Tilagarh Shah Madani Eidgah and mosques in the neighborhoods. There was a festive atmosphere and large participation of worshippers everywhere.
After the prayers, the devotees hugged each other and exchanged Eid greetings. At the same time, special prayers were offered for the peace and progress of the country, the nation and the entire Muslim Ummah. A joyful atmosphere prevailed throughout Sylhet surrounding Eid.
