Eid-e-Miladunnabi to be observed on Sept 6

The holy Eid-e-Miladunnabi, commemorating the birth and demise anniversary of Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), will be observed across the country on September 6 with due religious solemnity.

The decision came from a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held this evening at the Islamic Foundation Conference Room in Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, with Religious Affairs Secretary AKM Aftab Hossain Pramanik in the chair.

The meeting announced that as the moon of Rabiul Awal, 1446 Hijri, was not sighted in Bangladesh today, the holy month of Rabiul Aawal will begin on Tuesday.

During the time, A. Salam Khan, Director General of the Islamic Foundation (Senior District and Sessions Judge); Nizamul Kabir, Chief Information Officer of the Department of Information; A. Awal Hawladar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan, Joint Secretary of the Cabinet Division; Dr. Muhammad Shahidul Islam, Chairman of the Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organization; Syed Mosaddeq Billah Al Madani, Governor of the Board of Governors of the Islamic Foundation and Principal of Charmonai Ahsanabad Rashidia Kamil Madrasa; Mominul Islam, Director of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department; Shamim Ahmed, representative of the Bangladesh Waqf Administration; Dr. Abdullah Faruq, former Chairman of the Dawah and Islamic Education Department at Chittagong International Islamic University; Mohammad Obaidul Haque, Principal of Government Madrasa-e-Alia; Abu Saleh Mohammad Mohiuddin, Principal of Adampura Islamia Kamil Madrasa; Abdul Gaffar, Assistant Principal of Jamiyatul Ulum Islamia; and Dr. Mohammad Harunur Rashid, Director of the Department of Religious Dawah and Culture, among others were present.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on the 12th of Rabiul Awal in the year 570 AD, and he passed away on the same date in 632 AD.

The day is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
