Eight more die from measles in 24 hours, 1185 infected

Eight more children have died from measles and measles-like symptoms in the last 24 hours until 8:00 am on Monday, June 8. During this period, 1,185 children were infected with measles or its symptoms, according to an updated report from the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday afternoon.

Among the deaths, seven children died from suspected measles symptoms, while one child died from confirmed measles. Since March 15, a total of 536 children have died from suspected measles, and 92 children have died from confirmed measles, bringing the total death toll to 628.

In the last 24 hours, 93 children were confirmed with measles, while 1,092 children showed suspected symptoms. A total of 974 children were newly admitted to hospitals, while 1,194 children were discharged.

According to DGHS data, the total number of suspected measles patients since March 15 has reached 80,104, while confirmed measles cases stand at 9,779. Among them, 65,237 have been hospitalised, of whom 61,278 have recovered and returned home.
