At least eight more people have died across Bangladesh in the past 24 hours due to measles and measles-like symptoms, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Of the latest fatalities, two were confirmed measles cases, while six deaths were reported with symptoms consistent with the disease, the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room said on Thursday (April 16).

Data from the health authority shows that since March 15, a total of 34 confirmed measles deaths have been recorded, alongside 172 suspected deaths linked to the outbreak.

During the same period, 3,065 cases of confirmed measles have been reported, while suspected infections have surged to 20,352. A total of 13,129 patients have been hospitalised with suspected measles, of whom 10,496 have already been discharged.

Health officials continue to urge vigilance as the outbreak spreads, with children remaining the most vulnerable group.
