Ekushey Book Fair 2026 likely to be held in December

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 may be organized in December 2025, instead of its traditional February schedule, due to the upcoming national election expected in early 2026. While discussions are underway, no final decision has been made yet.

A senior official of the Bangla Academy confirmed the development on Thursday, stating that the election timeline has prompted a re-evaluation of the book fair’s schedule.

“There have been ongoing discussions about the timing of the fair due to the national election. December is being considered as the most feasible option, but nothing is finalized yet,” said the official.

The official also mentioned that a crucial meeting with the Academy’s advisor is scheduled for Thursday afternoon. The final decision regarding the date of the fair is expected to be taken during that meeting.

“Once the meeting concludes, the confirmed schedule will be shared publicly,” he added.
