Elderly couple killed by son in Chattogram

A son fatally stabbed his parents to death in Anwara upazila of Chattogram. Police have arrested the son in connection with the incident.

The incident occurred around 2:30pm on Saturday (July 25) in the East Gujra area of Ward No. 3 under Haildhar Union in the upazila.

The deceased have been identified as Swapan Dash Gupta (65) and his wife Kalpana Dash, aged 55. Their son is Rumi Dash Gupta.

Mahmudul Hasan, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Anwara Circle, told the media, "The son stabbed his parents to death. We have arrested him after receiving the news. We will be able to provide further details after interrogating him to determine why he killed his parents."

He further said the bodies of the deceased are being sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital. Legal action will be taken in connection with the incident.
