An elderly woman named Dalimun Nesa, 78, died after being hit by a motorcycle in the capital's Demra area. The accident occurred on the Barabhanga Bypass Road around 10pm on Sunday (May 3). The deceased's son Sohrab Uddin said that their village home is in Suhagpur village of Nalitabari upazila. They are currently living in a rented house in Sarulia area of ​​Demra. At night, his mother was crossing the Barabhanga Bypass Road near her house. At that time, a speeding motorcycle hit her from behind and fled. She died on the spot. Demra Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Abdur Rouf confirmed the incident. He said that it was not possible to identify the motorcycle involved in the accident. Following the family's request, the body was handed over to the relatives without an autopsy.

রাজধানীর ডেমরা এলাকায় মোটরসাইকেলের ধাক্কায় ডালিমুন নেছা (৭৮) নামে এক বৃদ্ধার মৃত্যু হয়েছে। রোববার (৩ মে) রাত ১০টার দিকে বড়ভাঙ্গা বাইপাস রোডে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহতের ছেলে সোহরাব উদ্দিন জানান, তাদের গ্রামের বাড়ি নালিতাবাড়ী উপজেলার সুহাগপুর গ্রামে। বর্তমানে তারা ডেমরার সারুলিয়া এলাকায় ভাড়া বাসায় বসবাস করছেন। রাতে তার মা বাসার কাছাকাছি বড়ভাঙ্গা বাইপাস সড়ক পার হচ্ছিলেন। এ সময় একটি দ্রুতগতির মোটরসাইকেল পেছন দিক থেকে ধাক্কা দিয়ে পালিয়ে যায়। এতে ঘটনাস্থলেই তার মৃত্যু হয়। ডেমরা থানার উপপরিদর্শক (এসআই) মো. আব্দুর রউফ ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি জানান, দুর্ঘটনায় জড়িত মোটরসাইকেলটি শনাক্ত করা সম্ভব হয়নি। পরিবারের আবেদনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে মরদেহ ময়নাতদন্ত ছাড়াই স্বজনদের কাছে হস্তান্তর করা হয়েছে।
