BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Bangladesh is progressing on the path of democratic advancement. He noted that the interim government has already announced the tentative election schedule and most political parties have released their lists of candidates, creating a clear election atmosphere.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 25, at a views-exchange meeting with lawyers at the Thakurgaon District Bar Association auditorium, he said, “We are hopeful that the first and mid-term elections on February 26 will be held successfully without any complications.”

He further said, “The law-and-order situation is now quite favourable. There is no condition that could obstruct the election.”

The BNP Secretary General also commented on the party’s nomination process. “BNP is a major political party. It is normal that each constituency has four to five aspirants. Such issues have always existed. There is no problem with it; rather, it reflects the party’s organisational strength,” he added.
