Election roadmap to be announced next week: EC secretary

Election Commission Secretary Md Akhtar Ahmed on Thursday said that the roadmap for the 13th National Parliament election is set to be announced next week.

He told reporters, “Discussions regarding the roadmap have been held, and it will be released next week.” However, he added that the process for preparing the roadmap will be announced later.

On the issue of voting rights for expatriates, the EC Secretary said, “Further discussions on this matter are still ongoing. Details will be provided to reporters once the discussions are complete.”

He also said, “The Commission has received 318 applications for election observation so far, which are currently under verification.”

In the afternoon, the Election Commission held a meeting on various election-related issues. Afterward, Jatiya Party General Secretary Shamim Haider Patwary told reporters, “The Jatiya Party seeks future elections that are free, fair, and fully in line with the Constitution.”

He also expressed confidence in the current government to ensure fair voting and remarked that the appointment of an acting chairman by a faction within the party is illegal.
