Election roadmap to be announced this week: EC secretary

Senior Secretary of the Election Commission, Akhtar Ahmed, said the commission has submitted a draft plan for the election roadmap and it will be finalized within the week. He added, “The final roadmap will be announced this week.”

He made the remarks to reporters on Monday (August 18) at the Election Commission office in capital's Agargaon.

Akhtar Ahmed said, “Hearings for the delimitation of 82 constituencies will start on August 24 and continue for four days. The number of polling centers will remain the same, with one center for every 3,000 voters. Each booth will now hold 600 voters instead of 500.”

“Field verification of 22 new political parties that passed the initial registration check is ongoing. Parties that did not pass the preliminary check are being informed of the reasons for their exclusion,” he added.
