Election suspended in Pabna-1, Pabna-2 constituencies
The Election Commission has suspended voting in the Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. All electoral activities in these two seats will remain halted until further instructions are issued.
The information was confirmed in a letter signed by Mohammad Monir Hossain, deputy secretary of the Election Commission’s Election Management-2 wing. The letter was signed on January 6 and has already been sent to the Pabna deputy commissioner and the returning officer.
The letter states that, in light of the Appellate Division’s order dated January 5, 2026, in case CMP No 1105/2025 concerning the delimitation of constituencies 68 Pabna-1 and 69 Pabna-2, the Election Commission has decided to suspend the election in these constituencies for the 13th National Parliamentary Election scheduled to be held on February 12, 2026.
It further instructs the concerned authorities to take necessary measures in accordance with the decision.
Speaking to the media, Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said there had been some factual discrepancies earlier. He added that the letter received today is the correct one and confirmed that electoral activities in the Pabna-1 and Pabna-2 constituencies have been suspended.
