Election violence: 486 incidents, 59 fraud cases reported nationwide by 2pm
The Home Ministry’s Emergency Coordination Cell reported widespread incidents of disruption and irregularities during the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum 2026.
As of 2:00pm on Thursday (February 12), a total of 486 disturbances were recorded at polling centres across the country.
The cell’s data indicated 59 instances of alleged fraudulent voting and three cases of ballot box snatching. Additionally, polling agents were reportedly forced to leave 14 centres.
Clashes between supporters of different candidates were reported at 135 locations, while six candidates were allegedly assaulted. Voting was reportedly obstructed at 18 centres.
Authorities also recorded four incidents of arson related to election activities and filed complaints against 33 election personnel for alleged negligence.
The concerned authorities are closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to ensure the integrity of the polling process.
