Elections must be free, fair to save democracy: CEC
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal on Monday said the elections must be held with free and fair to save democracy.
The chief election commissioner came up with this remark at the opening ceremony of the workshop on election law rules and procedures of the members of the election investigation committee held at the election training institute on Monday.
He said that election day is important as it will decide whether I am successful or failure. The Election Commission wants a controversy-free result. However, we will definitely succeed. We want to see acceptable polls.
"The elections will be held on January 7. We have to pay 10 times more attention to polling. Polling is the casting of votes. The boxes will be opened, everyone will keep an eye on each center," the CEC added.
