11 houses gutted by fire at hills in Bandarban
Eleven houses belonging to the hill community were destroyed by fire in Thuisa Para of Thanchi Upazila, Bandarban. The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) managed to bring the blaze under control after extensive efforts. This incident took place on Friday (May 17).
As per law enforcement officials and public representatives, the fire originated from a homestead in the remote Thuisa Para area of Tindu Union in Thanchi Upazila. The blaze quickly spread, engulfing 11 houses in the hilly village. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members promptly responded, exerting considerable effort to bring the fire under control. Additionally, three locals injured in the fire were rescued and provided with first aid at the Jinnapara BGB camp.
Bhagya Chandra Tripura, chairman of Tindu Union, said, "Eleven houses in Thuisa Para of Ward No. 7 of the Union have been completely burned. Several others suffered damage. The estimated loss is over Tk 12 lakh. These homes represent the enduring struggle of generations living in remote hills. The Union Parishad will extend assistance to the fullest extent possible."
Md. Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), said, "The members of Jinnapara camp of BGB have been able to bring the fire under control in Durgam Thuisa Para. They provided first aid to several individuals injured in the fire."
