11-year-old child allegedly raped in Jashore

Allegations have been raised over the rape of an 11-year-old child in Jashore under the pretext of buying her a mobile phone.

“The police have taken the child into custody after receiving the information and a drive is being launched to arrest the accused,” said Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Babul Hossain.

The incident took place at Churamonkati union in Jashore Sadar upazila. The accused is Abdur Rahman, son of Peer Ali, and a mason by profession.

According to the child's family, her mother lives with her 11-year-old daughter. She is a beggar. Abdur Rahman used to visit their house for a few days as the mother was out all day.

The child said that Rahman had been raping her regularly for a few days after promising to buy her a mobile phone. The last time Rahman went to the child's house was on March 15 around 7 pm and took her to a closed shop next to the house and raped her.

In this regard, the child's mother said that she will file a case. However, she is receiving threats from the accused.

Kotwali Model Police Station OC (Investigation) Kazi Babul said, "We have sent police to the spot after receiving the news. However, the victim's family has not yet filed any complaint in this regard."

In-charge of Sajiali Police Outpost SI Abdur Rouf said that the police are vigilant about the safety of the child's family.
