The casualties among Sundarbans' wildlife are on the rise following Cyclone Rimal. The forest department's latest report indicates the discovery of 127 deceased deer and four pigs. Apart from this, 18 deer and an injured python were rescued. Mihir Kumar Doe, the forest conservator of the Khulna region, confirmed the matter. He said that the bodies of these wild animals were predominantly discovered floating in the rivers and canals across various areas, including Katka, Kachikhali, Dubla, Nilkamal, Alorkol, Dim Char, Pokhirchar, Gyanpara, and Shelar Char within the Sharankhola range of the Sundarbans East region. Officials are concerned that the number of casualties among the animals in the forest could rise.

ঘূর্ণিঝড় রিমালের আঘাতে সুন্দরবনে মৃত প্রাণীর সংখ্যা বাড়ছে। বন বিভাগের সর্বশেষ তথ্য অনুযায়ী, ১২৭টি মৃত হরিণ ও চারটি মৃত বন্য শূকরের মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া জলোচ্ছ্বাসে ভেসে যাওয়া ১৮টি জীবিত হরিণ ও একটি জীবিত অজগর সাপ উদ্ধার করে বনে ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। খুলনা অঞ্চলের বন সংরক্ষক মিহির কুমার দো এসব তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন। তিনি জানান, উদ্ধারকৃত মৃত বন্যপ্রাণীগুলো মূলত সুন্দরবন পূর্ব বন বিভাগের কটকা, কচিখালী, দুবলা, নীলকমল, আলোরকোল, ডিমের চর, পক্ষীরচর, জ্ঞানপাড়া, শেলার চর এবং বিভিন্ন নদী ও খালে ভাসমান অবস্থায় পাওয়া গেছে। এই সংখ্যা আরও বাড়তে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা প্রকাশ করেন তিনি।
