14-day 'Dhaka Mohanagar Natto Utsav 2025' to begin in Dhaka

The 'Dhaka Mohanagar Natto Porshod' is organizing the 14-day 'Dhaka Mohanagar Natto Utsav 2025' from February 15 to 28, with the theme "Let the stage be filled with the light of art, where the audience is both family and inspiration."

The first phase of the festival will take place at the Dr. Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of the Bangladesh Mahila Samity. It will be inaugurated at 5:00 pm on February 15 by theatre critics and stage actors at the Bangladesh Mahila Samity premises on Bailey Road.

The second and third phases of the festival will be held at the National Theatre Hall, Experimental Theatre Hall, Studio Theatre Hall, and Zahir Raihan Auditorium of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Throughout the festival, 85 theatre groups will perform at five different venues. In addition, three seminars will be organized to address the challenges, opportunities, and audience engagement in theatre.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the audience for stage plays has been gradually decreasing, and attendance at theatre performances is currently low. To revive theatre practices and motivate theatre groups and workers, the 'Dhaka Mohanagar Natto Porshod' has been established, comprising 85 theatre groups from Dhaka. The aim is to make venues such as the Bangladesh Mahila Samity Auditorium, the National Theatre Hall, the Experimental Theatre Hall, and the Zahir Raihan Cultural Center more theatre-friendly and boost audience attendance. The festival will showcase plays every evening at 7:00 pm.
