A total of 1,522 police personnel, who were dismissed for various reasons during the Awami League government, have applied to the police headquarters for reinstatement.

The applicants include 1,025 constables, 79 naiks, 180 ASIs and ATSIs, 200 SI-Sergeants and TSIs, 10 inspectors, and 28 civil staff.

Police Headquarters have already gave credence to these applications.

This information was disclosed in a press release issued by the police headquarters on Friday (January 31).

According to the press release, a committee led by a DIG has been formed to review the applications. The committee is conducting a thorough investigation to determine whether these individuals were victims of political vendettas.

However, cases involving dismissals for criminal offenses, financial corruption, moral misconduct, violations of behavioral and departmental discipline, or pending cases under the Administrative Tribunal and Administrative Appeal Tribunal will also be examined.

In recently days, these dismissed officers have organised various programmes in an attempt to regain their jobs. The Police Headquarters has urged them to end these activities, which are causing 'public inconvenience'.
