2 CUET students die being hit by a bus

Two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) were killed today (April 22) being hit by a bus.

The deceased have been identified as Shanto Saha, a third-year student of the engineering department, and Taufiq Hossain, a second-year student of the same department.

The incident took place around 4:30 pm near Selina Quader Chowdhury College on the Chattogram-Kaptai road.

According to eyewitnesses, a motorcycle carrying three CUET students was hit from behind by a speeding bus named Shah Amanat. Students riding the motorcycle were knocked down. Shanto Saha died on the spot and Taufiq Hossain died while being rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.

Apart from this, Zakaria Himu, a second year student of civil engineering department, was also seriously injured in the accident. He is currently under treatment at Evercare Hospital, said CUET Deputy Director (Public Relations) Fazlur Rahman.

He said the bodies of the victims will be handed over to the families after the legal process.

A post on CUET's Facebook page said the CUET family was shocked by the untimely death of two talented students. The CUET family is demanding exemplary punishment for the persons responsible for the accident and expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families.
