The temperature in the country continues to rise after continuous rains at the beginning of this month.

The ongoing mild heat wave has spread over 42 districts, and it may spread further. Due to this, the Meteorological Department has issued a two-day heat wave warning or 'heat alert', according to a circular issued by the department on Wednesday (May 15) afternoon.

It said the ongoing heatwave over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions may continue for the next 48 hours from 6:00pm on Wednesday. Uncomfortable conditions may persist due to excess water vapour in the air.

This season, the heat wave started from April 1 and continued till May 6, sweeping over some parts of the country. The 37 consecutive days of heat wave is the biggest record in the history of the country.
