2 female militants who fled Narsingdi jail captured

The Anti-Terrorism Squad has arrested two women militants named Moushumi and Khadija who escaped from Narsingdi district jail.

They were arrested from Dhaka on Wednesday (July 24) morning, said Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Anirban Chowdhury.

He said “Out of nine militants who escaped from jail, seven militants are still at large. The operation to arrest them is underway. They will be brought to justice soon.”

Anirban said out of the 85 rifles looted during the arson attack on the district jail, 39 have been recovered so far.

Meanwhile, out of the 826 inmates who escaped from Narsingdi district jail, 331 prisoners have surrendered till 2:00pm on Wednesday, Advocate Kazi Nazmul Islam, president of Narsingdi Lawyers Association.

He said that this process will continue until all the prisoners who escaped from the prison surrender.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, all the prisoners of the jail escaped after miscreants vandalised the jail and set it on fire.
