2 held with firearms from Arsa 'hideout' in Ukhiya
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members have captured two suspected militants and seized a large number of arms, grenades and rocket shells from a "hideout" of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) adjacent to the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.
RAB-15 Cox's Bazar Battalion Assistant Director and Additional Superintendent of Police Md Abu Salam Chowdhury confirmed the news.
He, however, did not disclosed their identities.
According to RAB, the members of the elite force carried out several raids on Tuesday night after being tipped off that the members of Myanmar's armed terrorist organisation Arsa had built a new hideout in Lal Pahar area adjacent to Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhiya.
When RAB members surrounded the suspected hideout early Wednesday, Arsa personnel fired at the RAB members. RAB members also fired back in self-defence.
During a gunfight, two terrorists were captured while fleeing, RAB officials said.
Later, a large number of weapons, grenades and rocket shells were recovered from the Arsa hideout.
Further details will be provided at a press conference later in the day.
