2 injured in clash over new student organization committee

Two people, Mishu Ali (24) and Akib Al Hasan (23), were injured in a fight between two groups at the Madhur canteen of Dhaka University (DU) over the formation of a committee for the new student organization Bangladesh Democratic Students' Union.

They were rescued around 5:45 pm on Wednesday and brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

DU student Nahid Islam, who brought Akib Al Hasan to the hospital, said that several people were injured in a fight between two groups at the Madhur canteen over the announcement of the name of the new student organization. Out of them, Mishu Ali and Akib Al Hasan were brought to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College.

He also said that private university students feel that they have been given less weight in this committee and that they have been discriminated against. Among them, Mishu Ali, the central coordinator of DU Journalism Department, and Aqib Al Hasan, a student of DU Masters Printing and Studies Department, were injured.

However, he could not confirm who attacked them.

Inspector in-charge of the police camp at DMCH Hospital Md Faruk said that two students injured in the fight at Dhaka University have been brought to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. They are currently undergoing treatment in the emergency department.
