2 killed in bus accident in Mirpur, driver arrested

Two people were killed after being crushed under the wheels of a bus on Tuesday (April 30) night on the road in front of Purabi cinema hall at Mirpur in the capital.The bus driver involved in the accident has been arrested.

The deceased have been identified as Khairun Begum (36) and her nephew Md Yasin (4). Khairun Begum hailed from Ratanpur village at Sadar upazila in Bhola.

Khairun, a garment worker, lived at Pallabi in Mirpur.

Operations Officer of Pallabi Police Station Md Aminul Islam said the bus driver has been arrested. The bus has also been seized. A case has been filed in this regard.

He said that the doctor declared them dead when they were rushed to a local hospital after the accident. Later, the bodies were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
