Two motorcyclists were killed and another seriously injured in a road accident in Laksam upazila of Cumilla. The deceased were identified as Tabarak Ullah Malu, 42, and Masud, 28. Laksam Highway Police Station In-charge Mobarak Hossain Bhuiyan said that the victims' motorcycle collided head-on with a Noakhali-bound truck in the Bhaishkopia area of ​​the upazila on Thursday night. "Two motorcycle riders died on the spot. Another seriously injured rider was rescued and taken to Laksam Upazila Health Complex." The truck involved in the accident has been seized. However, the driver fled. The bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their families after completing the legal process, the Highway Police said.

কুমিল্লার লাকসাম উপজেলায় সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় দুই মোটরসাইকেল আরোহী নিহত হয়েছেন। এ দুর্ঘটনায় গুরুতর আহত হয়েছেন আরেকজন। নিহতরা হলেন-তাবারক উল্লাহ মালু (৪২) এবং মাসুদ (২৮)। লাকসাম হাইওয়ে থানার ইনচার্জ মোবারক হোসেন ভূঁইয়া জানিয়েছেন, বৃহস্পতিবার রাতে উপজেলার কুমিল্লা-নোয়াখালী সড়কের ভৈষকোপিয়া এলাকায় হতাহতদের মোটরসাইকেলের সঙ্গে নোয়াখালীগামী ট্রাকের মুখোমুখি সংঘর্ষ হয়। এতে ঘটনাস্থলেই মোটরসাইকেলের দুই আরোহী নিহত হন। গুরুতর আহত আরেক আরোহীকে উদ্ধার করে লাকসাম উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নেয়া হয়েছে। তিনি আরও জানান, দুর্ঘটনাকবলিত ট্রাকটিকে জব্দ করা হয়েছে। তবে চালক পালিয়ে গেছে। নিহতদের মরদেহ আইনানুগ প্রক্রিয়া শেষে পরিবারের কাছে হস্তান্তর করা হবে বলে জানায় হাইওয়ে পুলিশ।
