2 killed in Lalmonirhat road crash

Two people were Killed and Three were injured in a tragic road accident in Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat on Saturday. One person died while receiving treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning while another individual passed away on Saturday afternoon.

According to police sources, a truck loaded with sand departed from Patgram's Burimari landport and collided with both a passenger van and an auto. Five individuals, including the van driver, sustained serious injuries. They were rescued by locals and initially treated at Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex before being transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Abdul Kaium (70), an elderly resident of Dhubani village in the upazila, passed away on Saturday afternoon (April 20) while receiving treatment. The following morning, Sunday (April 21), Jolekha Begum (65), the wife of Hanif Ali from Madhya Gaddimari village, also succumbed to her ailments during treatment.

Hatibandha Highway police station in-charge Arif confirmed the truth of the accident. He said, "The entire matter is under serious investigation. The truck involved has been seized."
