2 policemen arrested in connection with Abu Sayeed's murder
Rangpur Metropolitan Police has arrested two policemen accused of killing Abu Sayeed, a student of English Department of Begum Rokeya University, during the July movement of Students Against Discrimination.
The arrestees are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Ali and constable Sujan Chandra Roy. They have been handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
PBI Police Superintendent Md Zakir Hossain confirmed this to the media.
He said. “These two police members were under surveillance in police lines. They were handed over to us by the metropolitan police on Monday (September 9).
Earlier, Abu Sayeed’s elder brother Ramzan Ali filed a murder case against 17 people with Tajhat Police Station in Rangpur on August 18.
Earlier on August 3, ASI Amir Ali and Constable Sujan Chandra Roy were dismissed.
