Chittagong Port has received a shipment of 22,000 metric tonnes of Atap rice from Myanmar, delivered by the MV Golden Star vessel.

The rice consignment, imported on a government-to-government (G2G) basis, marks the first shipment under the current interim government, according to a media release from the Ministry of Food issued on Friday (January 17).

The release stated that samples from the shipment will undergo physical testing before unloading begins, and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth process.

Earlier on January 11, the MV SDR Universe docked at Chittagong Port, carrying 26,935 metric tonnes of rice from Kakinada Port in Andhra Pradesh, India, under an open tender contract.
