23 Bangladeshis rescued from Libya kidnapping, 2 arrested
In an operation in Misrata, Libya, the police's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) rescued 23 abducted Bangladeshis and arrested two kidnappers involved in the incident.
According to a press release from the Bangladesh Embassy in Libya on Tuesday (April 1) night, the Libyan CID conducted an operation and rescued at least 23 abducted Bangladeshis. Two kidnappers involved in the crime were also arrested. The investigation started after several foreign nationals were reportedly tortured for ransom at the Al-Giran police station in Misrata.
The statement further mentioned that the police identified the location of the kidnappers through their investigation and carried out a successful operation to free the hostages. The rescued individuals and the arrested kidnappers were later handed over to the Al-Giran police station for legal procedures.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Embassy expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to the law enforcement authorities in Misrata for their prompt and effective action. The embassy is also actively communicating with the relevant authorities to ensure necessary legal assistance and support for the rescued Bangladeshis.
