27 sacks of taka found in donation box of Pagla Mosque in Kishoreganj
Some 27 sacks of taka along with foreign currency and gold jewelery have been found in the donation box and tank of Pagla Mosque, located on the banks of Narsunda River in Kishoreganj town.
According to the sources from the mosque management committee, nine donation boxes of the mosque were opened on Saturday (April 20) around 7:30 am in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Russell Sheikh and responsible officials. After opening the donation boxes, the sacks full of money have been found.
Sources also said that counting is now underway and a group of about 220 people are doing the job.
Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner and Pagla Mosque Committee President Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad said, “We have opened the donation box after four months and 10 days, finding 27 sacks of taka. Bank officials and madrasa students are counting the money.”
Earlier, the donation box of Pagla mosque was opened four times this year. A total of Tk 21,87,85,181 were found in these four times. Apart from this, foreign currencies, diamonds and gold ornaments were also found.
On December 9 last year, 23 sacks of taka were found in the donation boxes of the mosque. After counting the money, Tk 5,78,09,325 was obtained.
