3 Banani restaurants fined Tk300,000
Three restaurants in the capital's Banani area have been fined, Tk 100,000 each, Tk 300,000 in total, for operating without RAJUK permission or any clearance from the fire service. These fines were imposed by the mobile court of Dhaka South City Corporation.
The restaurants are Pinewood, Tajin Nawabi Cuisine, and Turkish Bazaar. City Corporation officials said that they were carrying out commercial activities in a residential building in Banani area.
They also said that commercial activities are not allowed in the building. There is no way to run the restaurant. As it is a residential building, they did not even apply for fire service clearance.
Zulqar Nain, Dhaka South City zonal officer and executive magistrate who was running the mobile court, said, "The restaurants do not have any documents. In view of the beginning of the month of Ramadan, three restaurants are being fined. They have to leave residential buildings and shift to commercial buildings. Otherwise, the building has to get commercial approval."
