The government has appointed Dr. Abu Zafor, a professor in the Pediatric Surgery Department at Sir Salimullah Medical College, as the new acting Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services.

This was announced in a circular signed by Md. Abu Raihan Dolon, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health, on Tuesday (October 15). This marks the appointment of the third Director General in the last two months.

Meanwhile, Prof Robed Amin, former Acting Director General of DGHS has been attached to the ministry until further order, according to the notification.

Previously, on August 19, Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam was removed, and Dr. Robed Amin, the Director of the CDC, was made acting Director General. Since his appointment, the BNP-supported Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB) has opposed this decision.

As a result, on September 12, Professor Dr. Nazmul Hossain, the Director General of the Health Education Directorate, was given the additional responsibility of the Director General of the Health Directorate.

Dr. Abu Zafor, a BCS 13 batch officer, was promoted to the rank of professor on November 13, 2013.
