At least three people died due to lightning in Jhalokathi at 11:00am on Sunday (April 7). The deceased are Helena Begum (40) of North Talgachia village at Kanthalia upazila in the district, Minara Begum (35) of Shekerhat village at Sadar upazila and Mahia Akhter Ishana (11) of Ponabalia village. Among them, Helena Begum and Minara Begum are housewives. Mahia Akhter was a class six student of Ishana Afsar Memorial Secondary School. Jhalokathi Superintendent of Police Mohammad Afruzul Haque Tutul said that the storm started around 10:00am in Jhalokathi. At that time, three people died due to lightning while bringing cattle from the field.

ঝালকাঠিতে বজ্রপাতে তিনজনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। রোববার (৭ এপ্রিল) বেলা ১১টার দিকে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। নিহতরা হলেন- ঝালকাঠির কাঁঠালিয়া উপজেলার উত্তর তালগাছিয়া গ্রামের হেলেনা বেগম (৪০), সদর উপজেলার শেখেরহাট গ্রামের মিনারা বেগম (৩৫) ও পোনাবালিয়া গ্রামের মাহিয়া আক্তার ঈশানা (১১)। এর মধ্যে হেলেনা বেগম ও মিনারা বেগম গৃহিনী। মাহিয়া আক্তার ঈশানা আফসার মেমোরিয়াল মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের ৬ষ্ঠ শ্রেণির ছাত্রী ছিল। ঝালকাঠির পুলিশ সুপার মোহাম্মদ আফরুজুল হক টুটুল এসব তথ্য নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, ঝালকাঠিতে সকাল ১০টার দিকে ঝড় শুরু হয়। সেসময় মাঠ থেকে গবাদিপশু আনতে গেলে বজ্রপাতে তিনজনের মৃত্যু হয়।
