3 killed, 25 injured in Chandina road crash
At least three people were killed and 25 others were injured when a passenger bus lost control and hit an electric pole and a tree in Chandina, Cumilla.
The accident occurred at Indrachar in the upazila on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at 7:00pm on Tuesday (April 1), while a Tisha Plus (Dhaka Metro-B-15-8682) Paribahan bus was transporting passengers from Dhaka to Cumilla.
Injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Cumilla Medical College (CUMEC) Hospital. Some are in critical condition.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus overturned after hitting an electric pole and a tree on the side of the highway. One person died on the spot and two others died after being taken to the Chandina Upazila Health Complex Hospital.
Highway Police, Army, Chandina Police Station and Fire Service are carrying out rescue operations.
Upazila Hospital Dr Subal Debnath said, "The injured were sent to CUMEC Hospital after receiving primary treatment."
Baharul Islam, leader of Chandina Fire Service Station Master, said, "The identities of the deceased have not yet been determined."
