3 new SC justices take oath
Three newly appointed justices to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court have taken oath. They are --Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz, Justice Md. Shahinur Islam, and Justice Kashefa Hussain. Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan administered their oaths at 10:30am on Thursday.
The Ministry of Law issued a notification on Wednesday, appointing them as per the President's order.
According to Article 95(1) of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the President appointed the three judges working in the High Court Division as judges of the Appellate Division from the date of their swearing-in.
Currently, there are five judges in the Appellate Division, including the Chief Justice.
With the appointment of three new judges, the total number of judges in the Appellate Division has now risen to eight.
