3 remittance fighters from Jashore died in Malaysia within a week

In the past week, three remittance fighters from Jashore district, including two from Rajganj and one from Jhapa, died in Penang, Malaysia. The deceased are Mahidul Islam, Abdul Majid, and Mintu Hossain.

Mahidul Islam (45) was a resident of Tajpur village, Horihornagar Union, in Jashore's Monirampur Upazila. He died on Sunday, November 10, while working at a construction site in Penang. Mahidul suffered a heart attack during work. He was the father of two children. Local Union Parishad Chairman, Mohammad Abdur Razzak, confirmed the death.

Abdul Majid (45) was a resident of Jhapa village, Jhapa Union, Jashore. He also died of a heart attack in Penang on Monday, November 11, while sleeping. Majid had been living in Malaysia for 5-7 years, working at a construction site. After finishing his meal on Sunday night, he went to bed, and his colleagues found him dead the next morning when they came to wake him up for work. The police later arrived and sent his body to the morgue. Local UP member Abu Musa and neighbor Arif Hossain confirmed his death.

Mintu Hossain (45) was a resident of Hanuar village, Jhapa Union, Jashore. He died from injuries sustained in a road accident in Penang. Mintu had been hospitalized for about 11-12 days after the accident. On Thursday, November 14, at 10 AM, he passed away in a hospital in Malaysia. Local UP member Khaledur Rahman Tito confirmed the death. Mintu was a father of one and had been living in Malaysia for nearly 10 years, working at a construction site.

All three had left Bangladesh for better economic opportunities and were working as remittance earners in Malaysia. The families of these deceased workers are grieving their untimely deaths and are anxiously awaiting the return of their loved ones' bodies. The community is in mourning, and the tragic losses have cast a shadow over the area. Legal procedures for bringing the bodies back to Bangladesh are currently underway.
