3 'shot, hacked to death' in Shailkupa

Three persons were reportedly shot and hacked to death in Ramchandrapur of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Friday.

JSD Ganobahini leader Kalu sent a short message to media personnel on WhatsApp, accepting the responsibility of the murders.

The statement sent by the extremist leader Kalu said: "Three people were killed in the Ramchandrapur canal in the evening and their bodies were dumped."

The message also said that two motorcycles were lying on the road.

The message further said: "It is hereby informed to the residents of Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Magura, Kushtia, Jashore and Khulna that the top leader of the notorious bandit group called East Bengal Communist Party, Md. Hanif along with his two associates were killed by members of the JSD Ganobahini. Hanif's associates in this area have been ordered to come clean. Otherwise, you will have to face the same fate."

Jhenaidah Police Superintendent Mohammad Manjur Morshed said that the bodies of three people have been found. We are investigating.

The police have left for the spot. However, no reliable source has confirmed the death till 12 midnight.
