37 Rohingyas intercepted while trying to enter Bangladesh: BGB
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intercepted 37 Rohingyas, including women and children, attempting to infiltrate Bangladesh from Myanmar via the Naf River on Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 9 pm at the Keruntoli border point in Sadar union, according to Lt. Col. Mohiuddin Ahmed, commander of BGB’s Teknaf-based 2nd Battalion.
Of the 37 Rohingyas, 19 were children, 11 were women, and 7 were men. Lt. Col. Ahmed explained that the group crossed the zero point of the Naf River in several boats, but BGB personnel, who were conducting a routine patrol, intercepted them and escorted them back.
The BGB remains on heightened alert to prevent unauthorized border crossings, Mohiuddin Ahmed added.
