At least 39 Palestinians were killed and 94 others injured in a single day as Israel carried out continuous airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.

With these latest casualties, the total number of people killed in Gaza since the beginning of the ongoing conflict has risen to 52,860, while more than 119,648 have been injured.

Israeli forces under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu conducted relentless bombings throughout the day using warplanes on Monday (May 12).

According to a report by Al Jazeera, citing Gaza's Ministry of Health, many people are still believed to be trapped under the rubble, making rescue operations extremely difficult.

Israel had agreed to a ceasefire with Hamas on January 19 after 15 months of continuous military operations, largely due to international pressure. However, the ceasefire broke down in the third week of March over a disagreement related to prisoner exchanges. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have launched a renewed offensive, killing an additional 2,750 Palestinians since March 18.

According to the United Nations, nearly 85% of Gaza's population has been displaced by Israel's ongoing aggression, and most of the region’s infrastructure has been completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, Israel is facing charges of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC). In November last year, the ICC issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in connection with these alleged crimes.
