4 killed in Cumilla road mishap

At least four people were killed and three others injured as a fish-carrying pick-up overturned on Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Chandina upazil in Cumilla on Tuesday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Monir Hossain, Habibur Rahman and Akter Hossain from Monpura upazila in Bhola and Rafiqul Islam from Satkhira.

The incident took place at Eliotganj in Cumilla around 6.00am on Tuesday (March 12) morning.

Omar Faruq Molla, highway police in-charge at Eliotganj, said the fish-laden Dhaka-bound pick-up overturned losing control after hitting a roadside vehicle in Belasar area, leaving the four people dead on the spot and three others injured.

The bodies of the deceased have been kept at Eliotganj police camp and the overturned pick-up has been removed from the road.
