4 killed in truck-pickup collision in Habiganj

Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van in Madhabpur of Habiganj. Among the deceased are two men and two women. Five others were seriously injured and admitted to Habiganj Sadar Hospital.

The accident took place around 2.00am on Friday at Bakhrnagar on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway.

The identities of the deceased and injured are not yet known.

Confirming the matter, Madhabpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun said, "Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup. There were 17 passengers in the pickup along with household items. The injured were rescued and sent to the Sadar Hospital. Five of them are in critical condition."

The truck and pickup are now under the custody of the highway police.

"The bodies have been kept at Habiganj Sadar Hospital, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased," the OC added.
